The Influence of the Class of Pregnant Women on the Mother's Knowledge and Attitude about Treatment during Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Childbirth in the Working Area of the Karang Rejo Health Center in Langkat Regency

Introduction

Methodology

The population in this study were 64 pregnant women in the working area of the Karang Rejo Health Center, Langkat Regency. The population is divided into two groups, namely the control group that does not take part in the class of pregnant women and the treatment group that gets intervention in the form of a class of pregnant women. To analyze data, researchers use the Wilcoxon test with a significance level of α = 0.05 to measure increased knowledge and attitudes. In addition, the Chi-Square test is also used to compare knowledge and attitudes between the two groups after intervention.

Results

The results of the study showed that there were no significant differences in knowledge (p = 0.238) and attitudes (p = 0.053) between the control group and the treatment before the class of pregnant women. However, after the intervention, there are significant changes in knowledge (p = 0,000) and attitudes (p = 0,000) in the treatment group. Conversely, the control group shows no changes in knowledge (p = 1,000) but there are changes in attitudes (p = 0.046) after class implementation.

Discussion

The results of this study confirm that the class of pregnant women has a positive influence on increasing knowledge and attitudes of pregnant women, especially in the treatment group. The class of pregnant women not only provides the knowledge needed for pregnant women, but also functions as a place to exchange experiences and support each other. Pregnant women who attend this class can feel more confident and ready to face the process of pregnancy and childbirth. With the emotional and social support of fellow pregnant women, it is expected to reduce anxiety that is often experienced during pregnancy.
